New trailer, new mysteries, same Kojima-level weirdness.
Hot off the stage at SXSW 2025, Hideo Kojima unveiled a new 10-minute trailer for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. If you were hoping for answers, you’re out of luck—but if you were hoping for jaw-dropping visuals, cryptic dialogue, and a whole lot of Norman Reedus looking intense, then congratulations, Kojima has delivered.
The sequel brings back Reedus as Sam Bridges, alongside Léa Seydoux and Troy Baker, with Elle Fanning and Shioli Kutsuna joining the madness. As for what’s actually happening? That’s anyone’s guess. There are massive desert landscapes, eerie technology, and enough unsettling moments to keep us questioning reality.
If you thought Death Stranding was weird, the sequel seems determined to crank it up another notch. The trailer is packed with cinematic spectacle, hinting at themes of rebuilding, survival, and possibly even war, but it’s still keeping its biggest narrative secrets under wraps.
One thing we do know? The game looks absolutely gorgeous. Kojima Productions has pushed the PlayStation 5 hardware, delivering insane environmental detail and incredibly lifelike character models. Whether it all makes sense in the end? Who cares, it looks amazing.
While Kojima is keeping the story details under wraps, we now have a solid release date—June 26, 2025. Preorders start March 17, and for those grabbing the deluxe editions, you’ll get 48-hour early access starting June 24.
