About 18 hours into Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and it's got some great Indy moments, but not without its flaws.
Indy’s back to his old tricks—chasing ancient secrets and dodging traps like a pro. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle sticks to the classic Indy formula, sending you on a quest to solve ancient mysteries. The story is solid enough, but pacing? Not so much. One minute, you’re slowly exploring and solving puzzles, and the next, you’re stuck in slow stealth sections or awkward combat. It’s a mixed bag of adventure, and while the plot has promise, it feels like a rollercoaster that stalls halfway up.
If this wasn’t an Indy game, I wouldn’t rate it at all—but they nail the world of Indy.
The puzzle-solving? Pure Indy goodness. Ancient riddles, tricky contraptions, and secret codes make you feel like you're actually part of an Indy flick. The first-person perspective works for the exploring, adding to the immersion, even if it makes combat feel a bit... awkward. But when it comes to solving puzzles, it’s all worth it—just keep that whip ready for when things go off the rails (which they will).
The voice acting and story are impeccable and really capture the Indy vibe.
On Xbox Series S, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle looks pretty sweet. The game runs buttery smooth, but at times, textures are a little muddy—nothing major, though. The set designs and environments really capture the Indy vibe. The character animations, on the other hand, fall into that classic Bethesda awkwardness. Think robotic, stiff movements that might give you a chuckle—totally unintentional, of course. Still, it's a pretty great visual adventure, even with the occasional hiccup.
Let’s talk about the real hero: the soundtrack. If you're an Indy fan, you’ll be grinning from ear to ear every time that iconic theme plays. The music swells just like it does in the movies, and when paired with the gameplay, it really immerses you in the adventure. Trust me, with those headphones on, you’ll feel like you’re about to whip your way into another daring escape.
That score... playing with headphones, it literally felt like an Indy movie.
✅ Classic Indy puzzles that are a blast to solve
✅ Voice acting and story that bring the adventure to life
✅ A smooth performance on Xbox Series S (for the most part)
❌ Combat feels clunky and awkward in first-person
❌ Pacing issues—way too much slow travel and stealth
❌ First-person view is limiting at times
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is a solid adventure for any Indy fan. The puzzles are a highlight, and the story and acting are top-notch. But the first-person view and pacing issues may throw some players off. If you’re a die-hard Indy fan, you’ll likely love it. If gameplay’s more important to you than the atmosphere, it might not hold up. But hey, that soundtrack and world-building? Definitely worth it.
